Five stars because it's perfect for what it is

0 5/5 Amazon Customer "Extreme Wood Artist" - See all my reviews This review is from: Bed & Breakfast (Amazon Instant Video) Not monumental Gone With the Wind or Schindler's List sort of five stars. More, the quintessential end of a long day, I don't want to think, be preached at, or feel depressed or like committing Harry Karry at the end kind of a movie because the main character sacrificed himself on a pillar of harp seals murdered by the bad guy. Bed and Breakfast gets five stars so you notice it in your movie search for the end of a long crappy day that you want to forget. It's predictable, but so are all romantic comedies. That's why romantic comedies are all about how well the cast mixes. In this case, the cast mix has a live play feel about it with likeable characters that bring a friendly giggle. After the movie, you'll go to bed with your slate clean of the day's cares and worries ready for the next day. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 7, 2013

Dean Cain at His Romantic Best

'Bed and Breakfast' has Dean Cain doing what he does so well- showing off his boyish smile and nice guy personality! This is a quality romantic comedy with all the usual elements. Of course, it's predictable; they all are. If you want a fun romance with a bit of conflict between the love interests, quirky but likeable characters, beautiful scenery and a happy ending, here you go.Dean's character is fixing up a huge home that he inherited from a friend. His dream is to open a B&B. He's married and still longs for his good-for-nothing and unfaithful movie star actress/wife who left him high and dry and is now filing for divorce. Now in Brazil, of all places, a sales supervisor(Paes) struggles to support her worthless brother, put up with a fun loving, self-center fiance, and try to keep her job. She suddenly finds herself loaded with a huge debt now left by here recently deceased father. Her friend and lawyer discovers she does have a deed to a property in... 4/5 mk (parker, CO United States) - See all my reviews, March 5, 2012

I came upon this by accident

0 5/5 Claudine Clarke - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bed & Breakfast (Kindle Edition) This is the kind of book you read curled up with a fire in the winter. I absolutely loved Ricky and Ron and the supporting cast members. There were some areas that I wish were expanded like how Ricky got into IT, and some other stuff, but it by no means detracted from the story. I will truly miss reading new books from this authour, but one must do what one must do for oneself.I highly recommend this book and I wish you all the best G. A. a wonderful love story that takes place at a small B&B ...

This penultimate book by GA is, as usual, a wonderful love story that takes place at a small B&B in Oregon. The owner, Ron, is running this highly successful gay friendly inn by himself, while still grieving the death one year ago of his partner of ten years. Among the guests staying after the season, is a family of four, Rickey, a gorgeous 21 year old gay man, his obnoxious sister, his right wing father who is a pastor in South Carolina, and his clueless mother. Rickey quickly is attracted to Ron and aggressively tries to have sex with him. Ron is also very attracted to Rickey who is quite beautiful but is almost 20 years younger than Ron and is staying at the inn with his family. Nevertheless, Ron does give in and the two of them spend a good part of the weekend having a secret and sexually hot series of encounters. This is a lovely and simple love story that the reader should be able to sit back and enjoy; unlike many of the books that are being written lately in the M/M... 5/5 Richard F. *****probable SPOILERS, because I'm cranky*****G.A. Hauser's books are always kind of weak, but this one was exceptionally so. Many books in this genre are light, fast reads, and I've got no problem with that. If I wanted reality, I'd deal with my own life. However, Bed & Breakfast tries to deal with serious subjects (death of a partner, coming out to religious parents) and just fails. There were the common mistakes like changes in verb tense, punctuation issues, and inconsistencies in the story (for instance, Ron's partner died less than a year ago, but then it's noted that his pattern of working himself ragged in the summer and retreating for the winter to drink and mourn has been the same "every year" since his partner's death). Those problems are annoying, yet forgivable- a bad story is not. Every step in the plot is implausible, and the whole thing adds up to crap. A Truly Professional Approach

If you're planning to open a bed and breakfast as a hobby or with the notion that "you're not really running a business, you're just making profits in your free time," this is not the book for you. This book covers almost all potential areas that you'll need to know to run a professional B&B, and the level of detail will quickly dissuade anyone who isn't serious. That having been said, anyone who does want to run a professional bed and breakfast will find the information invaluable. The forms included on the enclosed CD pay for the book themselves--everything from employment applications to inventory forms, invoices, standard recipe cards, and kitchen safety inspection forms. The book covers all stages of the planning and setup process, including business plans, marketing and promotion, safety, and employees. Particularly useful is the section on marketing, something that most B&Bs that I've known tend to ignore. Very Helpful

This book is absolutely great. It offers a realistic look into what it would be like to own a bed and breakfast. I assumed correctly that it would be a labor intensive gig, but the book pointed out so many things that I had never thought about - such as serving breakfast may require special licensing in my state/city.This book is perfect for anyone thinking about owning and operating their own B&B. From room decorating to recipes from other B&B's, "How to Open a Financially Successful Bed and Breakfast or Small Hotel" seems to address everything a new owner would need to know, as well as offers tips on how to renovate and update existing bed and breakfasts. It offers a number of resources to make sure you are in compliance with you state and local codes, as well as tips on how to get financing for buying such a place. There is a comprehensive guide that will tell anyone not current on the etiquette of meal service the appropriate way to set a table, serve... 5/5 Brandi M. Fairly complete beginners guide

While this book seems fairly complete as a guide, it certainly is for total novices, not only to B&Bs but to those running their own business as well. Much of its information is common business sense in its foundation and offers little that one would not realize on one's own-unless they had never run any sort of business in the past. Even an individual who has operated a business for someone else, especially if that business were in the service industry, would know much of the basics found here. Most obviously lacking is any discussion of the value or how-to of Internet marketing, research, promotions, reservations or purchasing. Secondary to that is a lack is discussion on yield management, rate versus occupancy managment and adapting one's room rates to current occupancy and market room-availability and other market forces. The author also provides no discussion of purchasing principles or the advantages of economies of scale that can be gained with co-oped or group purchasing... 3/5 R. 0 5/5 JEFFREY F HOUSTON (PALM SPRINGS, CA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Running a Bed and Breakfast (Paperback) As a former Inn owner I found the book extremely informative. I actually purchased the book as a gift for a friend who is opening a Bed N Breakfast. I was very impressed with the wide range of topics covered. Such as buying in bulk, reservation scripts, cancellation policys, when a laundry service makes sense, hiring employees, and the "do you have what it takes to run a B&B test". I could have saved a lot of time and money if this book had been available when I was first starting out. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 24, 2001

    Best Bed & Breakfast Book

0 5/5 "sklarbeth" (Vail, Colorado United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Running a Bed and Breakfast (Paperback) If you are considering purchasing a B&B, this book is an absolute essential. Clever and concise, the book covers a broad spectrum of topics. Everything from an example of a typical innkeeper's day to a discussion of tax-writeoff's is addressed. The experience and vision of Mr. Park Davis is invaluable, particularly in chapters involving operational issues such as marketing strategies, budget planning, and "expecting the unexpected." After having read many "How To..." B&B books, this book truly outshines all others as the definitive guide for owning and running a Bed & Breakfast. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 18, 2004

Now I feel I completely have a handle on where my money is going! I knew it was going, just didn't know where.I would recommend this book to anyone involved with a B&B. I personally am just starting, however, the book was recommended to me from a women in San Diego who has had a B&B since 1982.Thanks for writing a book that is answering all my questions!!! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 5, 2004
