About this book
1f, 2m / Dramatic Comedy / Interior Cabo San Lucas is a romantic comedy about two misfits and a postal employee who turn an apartment upside down while searching for love, courage and something to sell on Ebay. Two men break into a house and start grabbing everything they can. Little do they know that they're not alone. It seems that the owner, a young woman whose fianc just left her, has taking a fistful of sleeping pills with some booze and is trying to sleep away her troubles for good under a blanket on the couch. When she's discovered, she's so discombobulated that it takes her a while to figure out that she's being robbed. When she does discover it, she doesn't really care (she was just killing herself anyway). It turns out that while the one crook is a hardened criminal, the other is just a nice guy who happened to have a gun and who has been manipulated by the other one. The nice guy is horrified when he finds out that she's trying to kill herself. The bad guy takes off with the loot, but the good one stays behind and calls 911. In the midst of Grace's attempted suicide being thwarted by two house burglars, there are many comedic opportunities. And although funny, Cabo San Lucas has substance and truth that will make anyone feel for our human condition and frailty. "Those tired of playing second fiddle to the showier male roles might take a page from the author of this one act...who wrote a meaty starring role for herself...a great role for women, by a woman." - Jenelle Riley, Back Stage West "Cabo San Lucas also features its writer, Lisa Soland, in a lead role and Soland knows her comic strengths and plays to them. Her Grace, abandoned by her fianc as they were about to leave for a Cabo San Lucas honeymoon (and currently being burgled by two incompetents as she attempts to bid the world good-bye with an overdose of sleeping pills), is hilarious. Her progression as the pills begin to take effect is a small tour de force of physical comedy. Jeff Charlton, as nasty burglar Jack, displays both nice timing and effective menace, and Bill Lewis, as the hapless Guy, is appealing as the boy who burgles girl, boy saves girl, boy may get girl in the end. Director Linda L. Rand paces the play well and uses her actors' abilities effectively. The show's production values are simple but perfectly appropriate for this easy-to-like afternoon." - Janis Hashe, NoHo La News Magazine

    Great Overview of Baja

I read this before going on a week vacation to the East Cape. We used it for tips on beaches to visit in Cabo, and places to eat and shop in Los Cabos. I also enjoyed the history section at the beginning. I cannot speak for the accuracy of the north/central baja sections, since we did not visit that region. 5/5 debhibb "debhibb" - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Nice book

Seems to have most of the information I was looking for (not needing a hotel). It's very light so easy to take with on trip. Only wish is had better maps. More detailed maps of the area (on inside cover perhaps or a pull out) would have been nice. Still for the price, it's convenient and helpful 4/5 S. DeGuide - See all my reviews, March 15, 2013

Good Starter Guide for Visitors to Baja

In anticipation of an upcoming trip to Southern Baja, I purchased LOS CABOS & BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR [Kevin Delgado] and Fodor's LOS CABOS & THE BAJA PENINSULA. Both guides are useful, but much of it depends on what you're looking for in a travel book. In short, Delgado's book is more of a directory. That is, he provides fairly extensive reviews on the major hotels, inns, and restaurants in the main cities/towns of Baja. Fodor's is better for a review of restaurants, whereas Delgado's is better at helping you decide where to stay. The bottom line for me is that the Fodor's book is a much better purchase. The authors give greater descriptions of what you can see/do in Southern Baja than is true for Delgado. In contrast, Delgado only hits on the main communities (Cabo San Lucas, San Jose Del Cabo, Todos Santos, La Paz), but even then, the background provided about these towns is scant. In contrast, Fodor's covers the more obscure communities, and helps the reader understand that... 4/5 Christopher Alexander "Christopher Alexander" (Rio Rancho, NM USA) - See all my reviews, June 8, 2011

Great guide to plan your Los Cabos vacation

We bought this guide to use when we were vacationing for a week in Los Cabos. The guide would have been so helpful when we were selecting a hotel. As a guide during our trip - the maps focus on the tourist areas, but don't show you how to get there and where to take public transportation. There are nice photos of activities and various properties.Would highly recommend if you are looking to plan a Los Cabos vacation. 4/5 number16 "tess" (boston, ma) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Nearly Useless

I read this "guidebook" cover to cover in under a half an hour. It is the US magazine of guidebooks. There is not good detail about anything except the 15-20 restaurants and hotels discussed which is hardly comprehensive. There are no maps or photos. This is the first e book I've bought but I assume nothing in the format precludes showing a map of what you are talking about. This book is best for people who don't actually plan on going to Cabo but like perusing guidebooks. Pretty useless. I know it's only $2.99 but save your money. Maybe buy the $0.99 one which may not be any better but can't be worse. 1/5 Molly Williams-hodgins "nice lady" (nice lady) - See all my reviews, February 8, 2012

Just back from 2nd trip to Los Cabos

Just got back yesterday from my second trip to Los Cabos (the entire Cape region on the tip of Baja) in as many years. This is the book that helped me sort out what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go. Last year's trip we stayed pretty close to our all inclusive resort (Melia Cabo Real), but this year we ventured out on many day trips and activities (sunset cruise out into the Pacific beyond the Arch; sunset horseback ride in the Migrano area; kayaking from Santa Maria Bay to Chilena Bay and then snorkeling; snorkeling and beach day at Playa Amor (Lover's Beach); S.C.U.B.A. diving at Pelican Rock and Land's End). This Moon Guide was helpful in figuring out what we wanted to do in advance, but it wasn't necessary to book any of these trips before going. EVERYONE in Los Cabos works on commissions, so deals can be gotten in person, via the "salespeople" (they are everywhere...three different ones in our resort alone) depending on how much of their commission they are willing to... 4/5 Timothy Knotts - See all my reviews This review is from: Moon Cabo: Including La Paz and Todos Santos (Moon Handbooks) (Paperback) Just got back yesterday from my second trip to Los Cabos (the entire Cape region on the tip of Baja) in as many years. Terrible reference guide - outdated and inaccurate

How can a reference guide be published that indicates the wrong locations for the "hot spots?" At first, we thought it was a fluke. However, when more than four locations were not where the book said they were, you have to wonder if the author actually went to the locations at all. In addition, the recommended sites (indicated with the moon symbol) in La Paz particularly were a joke. The author obviously had not visited them in many years (or, as mentioned above, at all). Finally, the writing really suffers. I don't think we will ever buy another Moon book. 1/5 Pouletfoulet (San Diego, CA United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Info Outdated....

I am writing this from Mulege, BCS and a lot of the info the author has on this town appears to be outdated. A hotel and restaurant we were looking for has since gone out of business. Also author seems to interchange 'basic' with 'clean' rooms frequently. We had been to one budget motel based on her recommendation and although it was basic, having a prior guests' hair still in the shower drain when we checked in does not constitute it being clean. Also we ran across the street to a taco place we were told was open till 10 pm, and at 8pm the street was completely dark and closed. Would only use it as a general guide, and expect to do half of the things one can accomplish in the given itineraries--- there's just too much to do in Mexico. The suggested schedules pack way too much in a short time. The weather and Mexico is just too beautiful, you will usually want to stay another day at the beach or spend more time in one area. 3/5 Ms. Fibs (Astoria, NY) - See all my reviews This review is from: Moon Baja: Including Cabo San Lucas (Moon Handbooks) (Paperback) I am writing this from Mulege, BCS and a lot of the info the author has on this town appears to be outdated. Very thorough and well written guide

We traveled in Baja for two weeks using this guidebook almost exclusively and were extremely pleased with it. The hotel and restaurant reviews gave an excellent feel for the atmosphere of the locations and the authors did a great job of including attractions and activities for a variety of tastes. Their sample itineraries are also very helpful and we were never disappointed when we followed their recommendations for places to stay/eat and things to do. My only suggestion for improvement (as a family traveling with a small child) would be to include more child-oriented activities such as the La Paz Serpentarium. Overall, well worth the money! 5/5 Corinne Mckay - See all my reviews, January 23, 2008

    Good book, latest info

We used this book for a 2 week trip down baja last Dec. My main reason for selecting this book was that it was the latest of the 3 or so guidebooks available on the market so I figured the info will be more uptodate. Its a good book. there are still some inaccuracies on hotels & restaurants which I found frustrating since this should be easily fixable by fact checks. It covered too much ground i.e almost every town is covered. Would have been better to cover fewer with more info. We were a family with kids so better coverage for family oriented activities would be good. More cultural.historical background would've been nice.It is a good book and I would encourage folks to get this (at least until LP updates theirs :). Its certainly well worth the money on the trip. 4/5 Waseem Siddiqi "cheapB" (Sunnyvale, CA) - See all my reviews, March 2, 2010
