About this book
1f, 2m / Dramatic Comedy / Interior Cabo San Lucas is a romantic comedy about two misfits and a postal employee who turn an apartment upside down while searching for love, courage and something to sell on Ebay. Two men break into a house and start grabbing everything they can. Little do they know that they're not alone. It seems that the owner, a young woman whose fianc just left her, has taking a fistful of sleeping pills with some booze and is trying to sleep away her troubles for good under a blanket on the couch. When she's discovered, she's so discombobulated that it takes her a while to figure out that she's being robbed. When she does discover it, she doesn't really care (she was just killing herself anyway). It turns out that while the one crook is a hardened criminal, the other is just a nice guy who happened to have a gun and who has been manipulated by the other one. The nice guy is horrified when he finds out that she's trying to kill herself. The bad guy takes off with the loot, but the good one stays behind and calls 911. In the midst of Grace's attempted suicide being thwarted by two house burglars, there are many comedic opportunities. And although funny, Cabo San Lucas has substance and truth that will make anyone feel for our human condition and frailty. "Those tired of playing second fiddle to the showier male roles might take a page from the author of this one act...who wrote a meaty starring role for herself...a great role for women, by a woman." - Jenelle Riley, Back Stage West "Cabo San Lucas also features its writer, Lisa Soland, in a lead role and Soland knows her comic strengths and plays to them. Her Grace, abandoned by her fianc as they were about to leave for a Cabo San Lucas honeymoon (and currently being burgled by two incompetents as she attempts to bid the world good-bye with an overdose of sleeping pills), is hilarious. Her progression as the pills begin to take effect is a small tour de force of physical comedy. Jeff Charlton, as nasty burglar Jack, displays both nice timing and effective menace, and Bill Lewis, as the hapless Guy, is appealing as the boy who burgles girl, boy saves girl, boy may get girl in the end. Director Linda L. Rand paces the play well and uses her actors' abilities effectively. The show's production values are simple but perfectly appropriate for this easy-to-like afternoon." - Janis Hashe, NoHo La News Magazine

    An email in a book...

    0 1/5 Tallahassee Lassie - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: What To Do In...: Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico (Volume 3) (Paperback) Given 'print on demand' technology, there's a new trend for enterprising tourists to write up their five-day vacation and call it a book. This one recommends four activities and four restaurants - the sort of material you'd write in an email to a friend who was planning a trip to a place you'd already visited. The only advantage of this over a real book is that it's more current; apparently some of the places mentioned in the Moon and Fodor guides are closed following the hurricane in Sep 2014. But you don't need it anyway - you could find the same material on the Internet in a few minutes of searching. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 21, 2015

    Info Outdated....

    0 3/5 Ms. Fibs (Astoria, NY) - See all my reviews This review is from: Moon Baja: Including Cabo San Lucas (Moon Handbooks) (Paperback) I am writing this from Mulege, BCS and a lot of the info the author has on this town appears to be outdated. A hotel and restaurant we were looking for has since gone out of business. Also author seems to interchange 'basic' with 'clean' rooms frequently. We had been to one budget motel based on her recommendation and although it was basic, having a prior guests' hair still in the shower drain when we checked in does not constitute it being clean. Also we ran across the street to a taco place we were told was open till 10 pm, and at 8pm the street was completely dark and closed. Would only use it as a general guide, and expect to do half of the things one can accomplish in the given itineraries--- there's just too much to do in Mexico. The suggested schedules pack way too much in a short time. The weather and Mexico is just too beautiful, you will usually want to stay another day at the beach or spend more time in one area. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 17, 2012

    Very so-so guide

    0 2/5 mark a. ware1qazxsw2 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Moon Los Cabos: Including La Paz & Todos Santos (Moon Handbooks) (Paperback) The Cabo San Lucas section was in many ways out of date or simply inaccurate. Very few of the great restaurants were mentioned and some that were are no longer in business. The section on Panga fishing actually recommends fishing out of San Jose del Cabo which shows a profound ignorance of that sport. The section on snorkeling is several years out of date. There is much better information online. Save your money. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 17, 2014

    Excellent Resource! Great Recommendations! A+++

    This guide was a godsend! With so many restaurants in and around Cabo you never know what to expect or who will rip you off. We followed the guide for breakfast, lunch and dinner and even recommended places to fellow travelers and everyone loved it. The descriptions are great and you know what you're getting into: type of food served, atmosphere, price, family friendly, etc., so it makes it easy to choose the right spot. The little update insert is great (everyone knows restaurants come and go) and with it you know what the locals know in finding good eats!I love the in-town restaurants that we found in the guide but the out of the way places were truly fabulous and fun - a little adventure and great food makes for lasting memories. We went to an out of the way restaurant called Buzzard's that was right on the beach, the food was great and affordable and they had large bird cages filled with parrots. We ate, played on the beach and watched the sunset - it was beautiful... 5/5 0, January 13, 2006

    0 1/5 Mamabear451 (MARYSVILLE, MI, US) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Kalso Earth Women's Cabo San Lucas 2 Thong Sandal (Apparel) I have 3 other pair, of the Kalso Earth Cabo San Lucas sandals. I absolutely love them. I purchased those 3 pair last summer, and the summer before. They are more comfortable than being barefoot. I don't know why they changed the design, but this years sandal is horrible. They look like the older ones, but feel nothing like them. The straps are very tight and the material is scratchy. The soles and hard and non-flexible. I returned them right away. Too bad they ruined a really good thing. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 21, 2013

    Best shoes I've ever owned!

    These shoes are fantastic! I didn't find the negative heel to be a huge deal..it felt very natural to me. I also struggled with plantar fasciitis and these were the only shoes that relieved the pain by stretching out the bottom of my foot with the negative heel. I can walk all day long without any problems. I got mine 2 years ago and I wear them every day..and they still look almost new. I've had Teva Mushes and even though they're comfy, the heel flattens out after a lot of use and you have to replace them because they're no longer comfortable. Plus, there's no arch support..they're flat. These don't have either of those problems. I also have less back pain when I wear these because the negative heel helps my spine align better. Going up hill, I can feel the burn in my calves when I wear these..but it's just proof the shoes do what they're supposed to! Just walking around..I don't notice it, it's just on hills. I'm also out of shape..so that could be the issue! Mine are the violet... 5/5 D. Lane "Dakila" (Bear Creek, NC United States) - See all my reviews, August 9, 2011
