  This movie has a little bit of everything

  Based on quality this movie should have been released in the theater. However, because it is a more "quiet film," the studio was probably worried that it would cost them more to release it in the theater than they would make by just releasing it on DVD. Shirley McClaine and Julia Styles are well known actors, but there have been many romance movies recently of this type, so the studio probably figured these actors alone might not have enough pull to draw in a big crowd. I hope the audience out there proves them wrong because this is a good movie. Regardless of how it might or might not have done in the theater, it is a great renter. Although it is like every other romantic comedy released in the last few years in that one friend is secretly (or not so secretly) lusting after the other, the acting and writing distinguish it from the rest.   Could not have been played by a better person...

  First off, I would like to say that according to imdb.com, it is said that Kathy Bates was to play the part of the Grandmother in this film...thank god they chose Shirley McLaine for this part, nothing against Ms. Bates and her talents, but after watching this movie, I could not see anyone else playing this part but Ms. MacLaine....With that said, I have to say that this film is both funny and touching at the same time. It is a movie about two things, finding the right person, and it is about what a family is all about...we all have those family dinners that you want to get up and leave right away as soon as someone opens their mouth...and this is the way that Carolina feels as she totes her date around, trying to impress the family.   The book present a very good story in addition to an excellent cast and selection of characters. Now the main issue I had with this book is that gave me more the impression of a movie script, there is very little conversation between the characters and Carolina and Jacob meet each other almost at the end of the story. I found the end also extremely rushed and unrealistic; the author spent so much time describing the life and thinking of family and friends not really essential to the major sub-plot and then in 3 pages Carolina and Jacob are proclaiming their mutual love to the world.   wonderful!!

  I downloaded this book from the Amazon site for free... just another in a long line of so-so books, I thought. I was truly surprised at the depth of this novel. The characters are well drawn, with the good and bad in each that make them feel real. The story is tough, but compelling. We follow Caroline from her youth as she faces hardship and tragedy to finally be the woman she was destined to become. The separate lines are woven together in an interesting and believable patchwork. Even though you see the final result coming for several chapters, the trip is more than the destination.   An album that makes you want to hear it again.

  First, let me say I am not a big fan of country. I discovered Eric Church when I attended Bob Seger's "Face The Promise concert in Atlanta.Eric Church was the "opening act". What got my attention right off the bat was that his band could play rock and roll and they were great, but Eric's lyrics and vocal style got my attention. Hmmmm...great rock and roll with great lyrics delivered by a voice that just had magical clarity to it. The next day, I ordered "Sinners Like Me" and found myself listening to it over and over thinking to myself...."what's a classic rock fan doing listening to and enjoying COUNTRY?"I downloaded "Carolina" from Amazon at 12:30 AM on it's release date and I've listened to it at least a couple of dozen times and it's only been out for a couple of days. Every song has something that will catch your musical ear. This is one of those rare albums that doesn't have a bad song on it.   I as a Country Music fan, thought that in no way, shape or form could "Sinners Like Me" be topped with a sophmore debut....I stand corrected! This Guy is not only a Mans, man, but has the soft side that guys can actually relate to. Honestly..I am not some follower or stalker of his music, but, I bought it along with John Rich's new cd..This is one talented son of a bi!@h. I would definately recommened this to any fan of Down Home country that is about life and love and growing up. Women will love this and Guys will relate and enjoy as well.   This is in my opinion the best country record of the year so far. All of the songs, which he either wrote or co wrote, are all good songs. Alot of records out there nowadays have a decent song or two (ok maybe 3), but Eric Church has put out another album that is solid from start to finish.There is no filler material here. Your local country radio station may or may not be supporting this guy, but beat the bandwagon jumpers and pick up a copy now.
