    A Great Volume

This is a really fun and useful book. It features many, many interesting places in Colorado, with very great descriptions, pictures, etc. A friend received Weird Colorado as a gift and when I saw it, I knew this would be a most appropriate Christmas gift for my adult children. I found it on Amazon, and ordered one for each of my sons, plus one for myself. Don't let the title or the cover picture scare you off. This is a book every Colorado home should have, plus being a definite attention-getter when others see the title. 5/5 Dorothy S. Weird Colorado

This book is very informative and I have send it to my nephew and family as a Christmas gift. They have children the ages that this book would be very interesting to them. It is a family gift. This book was given to our dentist and they have it in their waiting room. It does take some of the pain out of being at the dentist. I recommend it to people that live in Colorado or tourists that come to Colorado. 4/5 migibb - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Interesting, even for a Colorado native!

I saw this book at a local coffee shop and I fell in love with it. I love reading about the history of Colorado. There were things in this book that I really did not know about. I am a native of Colorado (3rd generation Coloradan) and have lived here for 30+ years with my family being from other parts of Colorado. This is a great book to have on your coffee table if you are from Colorado, live in Colorado or are planning a trip to Colorado. It is entertaining, full of pictures and full of great short stories that it will keep you reading. I loved it so much that I bought "Weird Colorado" and "Weird Kentucky" for my mother-in-law and she loved her books. She's from Kentucky but lives in Colorado Springs.Great little book to have around. Not comprehensive enough

Though the Frommer's guide contains a lot of useful information as one would expect, there is much more on Denver and Boulder than on other parts of the state. We were disappointed that the term "ghost town" does not even appear in the Index, yet Colorado has a bunch of them; that seems an oversight. Perhaps there's just too much to do in Colorado to put it all in one volume, and that may be why this book seemed less comprehensive than we would have liked. Next time we'll look for a guide that has more information about outdoor activities and less about restaurants and night life. 3/5 Betsy G. 100 Classic Hikes Colorado

    Book (Mountaineers Books)

    Rating (11 reviews):
    (4.0/5)
    Mountaineers Books

    Concise guide, good information

This is a "must have" guidebook if you enjoy hiking in Colorado. Each hike is described in some detail with a ranking of how strenuous each trek is considered. The text is concise and to the point, but gives an adequate feel of each hike. There is at least two pages devoted to each journey and the hike descriptions are to the point. Many such descriptions were the sole reason I decided to hike some of these mountains and I was never disappointed. The quality of the book is also to be commended. The paperback binding holds up after major 1,000+ mile car journeys I've made with the book thrown in the back seat. If you buy one guidebook about hiking in Colorado, make it this one. I highly recommend it for the description of each trail and just the overall feel of the book. 4/5 Candace Scott (Lake Arrowhead, CA, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: 100 Classic Hikes in Colorado (100 Classic Hikes) (Paperback) This is a "must have" guidebook if you enjoy hiking in Colorado. Favorite Hiking Book

I had the older version of this book and absolutely loved it. I've planned many weekend trips and vacations based on the hikes in this book. I've never disagreed with the authur about a hike being one of the top 100 in Colorado. The new version has elevation profiles which are very nice. However, I don't care for the new maps. The old book had maps which were very easy to see. The new edition has topo maps which I think are too crowded and busy to be able to make anything out. I can't tell if there are streams next to the trails, which is very important to me as I hike with a dog and it's usually the first thing I look at.There are several new hikes: Bear Peak (Boulder), Lake Isabel (W. of Denver), Mount Falcon (Denver), Devil Head (Sedalia). Red Rock Canyon (Colo. Sprgs.), North Cheyenne Canyon (Colo. Spgs.), French Pass (Jefferson/Fairplay), Tater Head Loop (Crawford), Mosca Pass (Alamosa), No Name Lake (Antonito), Rabbit Ears Mesa (Grand Junction) and Sarvis Creek... 4/5 S. J. I was little disappointed in this book.. Not much panorama photos of the state. Not what I had in mind. Lacking in scenic photos... Nothing great from Red Rock, Pikes Peak, Rockies, etc.For example on page 8,9 I would like to have seen more photos of Aspen. Not a Close up of an Victoria style homes. Page 16 you get a close up of a few buildings in Vail while blocking the mountains in the background. Page 63 you get close up of some Hot air balloons for Colorado Springs. Page 56, Two sentences about Trinidad, CO while showing a photo of children celebrate the last day of school. Many other examples just like this...I am looking for more scenery and more photos. Good but not Great

This is a good book with an interesting story about Colorado. But I have to agree with another reviewer that the illustrations, while good, are not overly compelling. My grandkids prefer "Dreaming of Colorado," which has some stunning illustrations and teaches them about the history of Colorado. If you can afford it, though, I'd recommend both books, as the text in each book covers different topics. 3/5 Lisa Johnson (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews This review is from: Good Night Colorado (Good Night Our World series) (Board book) This is a good book with an interesting story about Colorado. Mounting could be better

I tried a number of times to get the unit tightly attached to the handlebars using included and other ties I had. I couldn't get it tight enough so that the unit wouldn't rotate when going over bumps. It definitely needs a better attachment. I finally resorted to an old trip computer mount with screw attachment. I used the ties laterally on the unit mount and put the ties under the old mount - this holds the unit firmly. It works fine now. They should include a better attachment mechanism with this unit. 3/5 Dwh Transportation Analysis "Dave Harmon" (Albuquerque, NM) - See all my reviews, July 24, 2008

A Perfect Addition to the Garmin Colorado

I use my Garmin Colorado 400t mostly for geocaching. I use my bike mostly to stay in shape. With this bike mount kit I can now do both at the same time! Also, having a GPS on my handlebars is very convenient for when I am riding in unfamiliar territory and get a little turned around (O-K, lost). The kit come with four plastic zip-lock ties, but you only need two and the others are spares. It was not as tight as I wanted it to be when I used only my fingers to tighten the straps so I used a pair of pliers to grab onto the strap and make it nice and snug. I then cut off the part of the straps sticking out in order to make it look nice.Although it looks a little big on the handlebars (see my photos above under "customer's images") it actually is very practical to use and when I take it off I really don't even notice the mount. The screen is O-K in bright light, but when it's really overcast I turn on the GPS's backlight. If you have a Colorado unit... 5/5 Timothy B.
