  Monster comedy, mostly for the kids, but fast-paced & funny enough to keep everyone entertained

  Hotel Transylvania, directed by Genndy Tartakovsky from a screenplay by Peter Baynham and Robert Smigel, is an animated comedy/horror-spoof, mostly for the kids but fast-paced enough and with enough humor to keep everyone entertained for an hour and a half. It's not as smartly written as 2010's Megamind or as sophisticated and dazzling as 2011's Rango, but it is fun to watch and satisfying in a popcorn-movie kind of way. Adult fans of old horror films will like spotting some of the more obscure monsters (Brain From Planet Arous anyone?) and picking up on some references that will sail over the head of younger viewers.The plot begins in 1895 where we find a very paternal Count Dracula (Adam Sandler) looking after his infant daughter not long after the death of his wife.   Hotel Transylvania was a really good cartoon movie. The movie is about a young vampire girl Mavis (Selena Gomez) who wants to go out and explore the world. Her over protective father Dracula (Adam Sandler) does not want his young daughter to go out and mingle with humans. He beleives that humans do not like vampires and will try to hurt her but he did tell her that when she turned 118, she could go. The movie centers around Mavis's 118th birthday and her party. All of her monster friends and relatives come to celebrate and they have an unexpected guest.....a human. Mavis falls for the human and the rest as they say, is history. The movie was cute and age appropriate. I took my 5 year old to see this and did not cringe once. She laughed her little head off. I would see it again anytime.   Unlike other Disney books that review everything an overwhelm you with choices, this one focuses on the very best things and those we may not know about, like having lunch/dinner with an imagineer or the backside tour so you can see what nobody else sees (it includes lunch) or the cost and unique privileges of a VIP tour ($275-$315 per hour with a six hour minimum). Do you want the Disney Dining Plan? You might not need it if you stay at Club Level Concierge rooms and visit their complimentary food area? Or you might want it if you're on a budget and would rather spend money when you have it and not be shocked later on with credit card bills. Are you travelling with 10 people? Then perhaps a Disney Villa makes more sense. Need a ride to the hotel? Careful, Disney's Magical Express makes a lot of stops, you could end up spending up to 90 minutes on a bus.   Perfect for someone who wants to experience Disney and knows nothing about where to stay

  Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Provides a great overview of the Disney World deluxe resorts and has helped me to identify which ones I am most likely to enjoy. One of the most helpful things for me was being able to pinpoint resorts based on group size. I have a big family, so it was really helpful to know where we can (and cannot) stay to keep us all together. Definitely recommend this book. One thing I would love to see in the next edition is the inclusion of some maps to help visualize where the resorts are located in relation to one another and all of the other Disney attractions. 5/5 H.   I gave this movie 5 stars because it deserves it,how did disney do it make an adam sandler movie that is actually understandably funny for both kids and adults alike I am 17 and I saw it I do not usually see PG rated movies but I went with my family on the 26th.I laughed through most all of it.you probaly would not want to read the other reviews as they have minor spoilers. Unless you want it to br ruined for you.Really not crude not bad language but still funny.   Let's just clarify at the beginning. If you are looking to just own the movie, buy the less expensive regular BEDTIME STORIES DVD. However, if you or your family enjoys the special features that usually are included with movies, you'll want to purchase this, the DELUXE DVD EDITION of BEDTIME STORIES.In 2008 Sandler starred in two movies. One (YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN) was a complete bust on all accounts. The other was BEDTIME STORIES, a film the critic meeting with mediocrity, but that was made major box office during the Christmas season. The film has a pretty decent story line with enough laughs for kids and adults and is actually quite family friendly (the movie was the first Happy Gilmore Production to receive a PG rating).Sandler portrays Skeeter Bronson the son of a father (Jonathan Pryce) who attempted to fulfill his life dream of owning and operating a small hotel.   Yes, parents, it is SAFE

  Yes, it is safe to take the kids to this one! The whole family enjoyed it. We had left the 14 year old at home, but will rent it as soon as it comes out so she can see it too. The message is positive, the innuendos few, and the theme is just plain fun. Even the "Paris" character keeps things mostly covered. Nice change for a 21st Century film.The lead, though he starts out trying to manipulate life to go his materialistic ways, learns how to manipulate life to benefit all of those around him. He is just that kind of guy who never could have been the selfish fool. So, it really can be a great discussion starter for the family about morality, unselfishness, and proper behavior in community.On top of all that deep stuff, it is just hilariously funny! There were even some applause at the end when we watched it in the theater. It has been a long time since I've been in a movie where the audience was moved to applause. 5/5 L.   my daughter - who is five - spotted the purple section when we visited our local lego store yesterday. after looking at all the new sets, she chose "olivia's tree house." i am thrilled that lego has created a girl-themed product line. i have no complaint about what lego has offered so far, as our son and daughter have enjoyed our many lego sets throughout the years. i just read an article on yahoo that chastises lego for its gender stereotyping. but come on! my son and daughter have a variety of lego sets. the holiday-themed sets that we put together each christmas; the "pink" starter box. countless DUPLO sets that they have both played with. but she is a girl and she likes "girly" things too and that includes "girly" colors AND she is able to tell you the name of all the planets in order and has the space shuttle lego set. creating a "girl" themed product line in no way forces her into a gender role, limits the possibility of what she can achieve in life nor does it undermine her... 5/5 lulurose (bay area, ca) - See all my reviews = Durability:, January 7, 2012

  Great fun!

  My six year daughter asked for Lego for this past Christmas. Having searched the Internet and stores I was discouraged that the selection was primarily marketed for boys with some unisex offerings. Knowing my daughters play habits, I decided to buy her lego creator apple tree house and Lego city corner. I figured that she could build a town to play with. I was hoping to buy her some female figures separately to play with. The problem I had with that was, there were precious few female mini figs. I was a little irritated with Lego for largely ignoring what is appealing for girls. While There are aisles of barbies and Disney princess, Lego is in the boys section of the toy store. And while we have barbies and princesses, which she has fun with, they don't really build her brain. I remember playing with Lego as a kid. It was a hand me down from a cousin so by the time I played with it it was essentially a large tub of blocks, but it was fun to play with.   6 Year Old Girl Loves It

  My daughter was so excited to see the new Lego Friends range. We already own a lot of Duplo and recently purchased the and the LEGO Fairy Tale Historic Miniature Figures - Contains 227 Pieces. Olivia's Tree House is a great addition to our collection. My daughter was especially excited about the new mini-doll figure and she would like to collect them all.This was her first real Lego set and she was able to assemble it herself by following the instructions. I had to help her out a couple of times - building the brown parts of the tree was more complex than I expected.   This guide is my favorite of all the books we bought for our previous Disney trips. It is so thorough and honest. I felt that most of the opinions and reviews were in line with our own based on our experiences at Disney. The info on dining is so helpful. We had the 2011 version and hoped for new reader comments in the 2012 edition but most of them are repeats. This one does have updated information on newly renovated rooms and rides.   Love the daily park guides

  We bought this in tandem with the much larger Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World (sans the kids). This book contains many helpful recommendations on rides, attractions, and restaurants that are best to do with the little ones.   Made our first Disney Trip an incredible success

  We had never been to Disney World with our kids and it had been decades since we'd been there ourselves. We were worried we'd spend the first half of our trip getting our bearings. With this book we felt like we actually knew what we were doing. It has sections on how to navigate all the parks so you can enjoy everything, strategies for using FastPass, and detailed descriptions (and reviews!) of the restaurants, hotels, and the rides. We brought the book with us everywhere and referred to it many times during the day. And at night we'd read about the park we were visiting the next day.
