Should be called "The Indispensable Guide To Walt Disney World"

0 5/5 ej - See all my reviews This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2015 (Paperback) Simply indispensable. Possibly the best investment I ever made was buying this book. It has allowed me to visit Walt Disney World six times without having to wait in line for anything, even during the busiest seasons. One spends thousands of dollars on a vacation, yet this book is what allowed me to truly enjoy it all without waiting in line. There is so much useful information in this book about a myriad of all-things Disney. And it's an entertaining read, so I even enjoyed sections that didn't pertain to what I was interested in (Disney cruises, for instance). It's even got info on Universal & other Florida theme parks. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 5, 2014

This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2015 (Paperback) As a expert myself (or so I beleive I am) on Walt Disney World, there is no other guide that even comes close to the perfection this book/guide offers (I've read them all). the UNOFFICIAL GUIDE (make sure you look fo 'unofficial') accomplishes telling it like it really is and in excellent detail. It's large so order early as to read the entire book page to page. Reading it twice is even better. It's the ONLY guide you'll really need to Walt Disney World and I promise I fly for an airline and do not work for the publisher. This is a rare find and as said well perfected and researched. A solid 5-star guide. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 13, 2014

    Not happy so far

0 1/5 Erin - See all my reviews This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids 2015 (Paperback) Not happy so far.I bought this book to help me wade through all the information needed to plan an upcoming trip to Disney World. Imagine my dismay when attempting to read some relevant information in the book, only to be directed to the authors' website...where I need to subscribe to get the content I purchased the book for. Had I known that, I wouldn't have purchased the book at $17.99. For that price, the book should come with a code for a free subscription to access the material, or should just include the material in the first place. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 5, 2015

0 5/5 Mickelle Nieves - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids 2015 (Paperback) Book was very helpful... We actually have the 2013 and 2010 books. If you have an earlier book I recommend you just buy the scheduler if already understand the new fastpass+ system. If you don't understand it this book will help some but the section that explains it isn't all that great and I learned more online at wdinfo, etc.The book series is good don't get me wrong....but if you have a fairly recent one I would just recommend updating your online subscription so you can plan your day out on your mobile phone. BTW a smartphone is almost a must at Disney now. You can't even make reservations at a restaurant without one (well its very difficult without one). 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 5, 2014

Still good, but not great this edition

I purchased this same book in 2013 when we last visited Disney World. I have to say that compared with our first-ever trip to Disney in 2011, this book made a WORLD of difference in 2013 in terms of getting on every ride we wanted multiple times and just generally informing us of what's out there and what is available to do. This time, however, I'm disappointed slightly by the book. It still gave me the same great detailed information on the parks, including each ride and restaurant, and the basic touring plans to get you from A-Z at the parks. However, I felt that this time there is much more of an emphasis on pushing readers to the website where you have to spend money in addition to the book you've already purchased to get more specific touring plans to meet your needs. Disney is already such a time-consuming vacation to plan. I had hoped this very LONG book would be sufficient in terms of a planning tool. Also, because of the length and complexity of the book, I... 3/5 KB2079 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 5/5 Katherine Kristan - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Birnbaum's 2015 Walt Disney World: The Official Guide (Birnbaum Guides) (Paperback) I am a total WDW addict and go every year. And yet no matter how many times I have been there, I can't do everything. That is why I buy a Birnbaum's every year. I actually read it cover to cover (yes I am a big geek) and always manage to learn something new, or find something new I want to try. It's not just about learning what is new this year, you get to learn all the little details you may have missed on previousl trips. There are events that I only learned about a year or two ago, and they have them several times a week. The Wishes dessert party was a great addition to one of my trips. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 27, 2014

From approximate weather, crowd size, new exhibits/attractions...knowing which hotels are the most affordable and where they are located in location to your favorite Park(Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Downtown Disney). Best places to eat, where to find the best coffee, where to locate the characters for the kids to see....it just goes on and on. Best book out there

Let me start by saying that I have gone to Walt Disney World when it was just the Magic Kingdom in the 70’s. I have gone with my children when they were little and most recently with my 12 yr old daughter. I have never had a bad Disney trip. I always read books and did research. That being said I also know that I missed a good percentage of what was there, wandered around in circles and wasted time/money.I found one of the author’s sites 2 years ago when I was planning the trip with my daughter. The site and knowledge that Josh shared was what made that trip so amazing. When I learned that he was writing a book I couldn’t wait to get it.The key statement that sets this book apart from all of the other books out there is in the introduction, “sit back, relax and enjoy the planning”. This is your key to success. This book is a comprehensive guide for the first time visitor or someone that has gone twenty times. Great Choice for the First Timer

The Easy Guide to your First Walt Disney World Visit, written by Dave Shute and Josh Humphrey, is a great resource for guests who are looking for vacation planning guidance. What most people don’t know is that planning a Walt Disney World vacation, especially for the first timer, is a daunting task. Sure, it looks like fun on the commercials….and it will be once you get there….but before that can happen, you have many, many hours of planning ahead of you. I am a travel agent who plans Disney vacations and I can tell you, as a professional, that planning a space shuttle trip to the moon is only slightly more complicated than planning a Disney vacation (but the moon doesn’t have a Dumbo ride so it is not as much fun). The hard truth is, a book that encompasses every possible thing to do, see and consider at Disney World would be thousands of pages and who has time for that? Excellent for newbies and for return visitors!

Great information! I've been to Disney a few times and learned several helpful and interesting things that my family will use on on our trip next month. But that's just regarding the classics! This guide is totally updated and filled me in on all of the new attractions that were in the works during our last trip! How exciting to have the inside scoop on brand new attractions! There's also detailed info on both on site and offsite accommodations. I'm not sure you'd even need Disney's resort brochures with this book in hand. We, however, book nearby offsite accommodations for much better prices and make most of our own meals at 'home'. Traffic hasn't been a real problem for us...Quick and fun read with lots of great pics. It even includes times and locations for the parades, where to head when it rains, and info on all of the Disney parks, not just the big four. If you are trying to plan a trip to WDW this should be the first book you read.

Along with being the parent of four small children, I am also a college professor. Needless to say, I am all about research. I have read 7 different guides in the last month. Wilk's book does an excellent job of explaining the basics of how to plan a vacation, information on each park, the fast pass+ system, dining and lodging basics. There are other books that are much more extensive, (167 pages in 12 point font, verses 555 pages in 6 point font) but Wilk gives the overall picture that it takes other guides hundreds of more pages to outline. My parents are planning to go with us on this trip, out of all of the books I could send them, I sent them this one. Again, my parents (who are in their 60s and 70s) need basics, they honestly need a book that they can physically read without going blind, but they don't need to be bogged down in details (and the panic that washes over you after reading 500 detailed pages on WDW). Very Helpful Book

0 5/5 thalassa - See all my reviews This review is from: Discover the Magic: The Ultimate Insider's Guide to Walt Disney World (Kindle Edition) I found this Disney guide very helpful. The author has very insightful information about lodging in and around Disney. We are planning a trip to Orlando and I have been truly struggling to find a good hotel online. While reading this book, I discovered several hotels that I had not considered and have now booked one based on the book's recommendation. The hotel sounds great and the reviews are very good, supporting the author's recommendation. We have been to Disney before, but we have always skipped the Disney Water Parks. After reading this book, the kids and I can't wait to go back to Disney and hit one of the Water Parks. We didn't realize they had such cool attractions such as the Shark Reef snorkeling and Summit Plummet! I highly recommend this book for a first time Disney guest as well as an experienced Disney traveler. I definitely learned a lot! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 3, 2015
