About this book
The size and scope of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is enough to make the most seasoned traveler shiver. Disney has packed four major theme parks and 22 resort hotels into those fabled 47 Florida square miles. With all those choices, how can an everyday Mom and Pop hope to deliver a family vacation to remember? "Planning!" say Walt Disney World vacation veterans Jennifer and Dave Marx. "The vast Walt Disney World complex is not designed for procrastinators or last-minute travelers. Without a plan, a Disney vacation is nowhere near as much fun, and can quickly sink a family’s finances. A plan and a budget will keep your vacation happily afloat." The Marxes put their advice where it could help others with their award-winning travel guide, PassPorter's® Walt Disney World® 2016: The unique travel guide, planner, organizer, journal, and keepsake! The Marxes have been honing their advice, expanding their coverage, upgrading the book's features, and delighting readers in 18 editions published over the past 17 years. Not content to write "just" another guide, the authors continue where other guides leave off. In one neat, spiral-bound package they’ve combined a 362-page guide with 14 organizer "PassPockets," creating a proven planning system for the perfect vacation. What do you do with a PassPocket? Write your vacation itinerary on the front of each pocket before you go, store maps, brochures, passes, and receipts inside the pocket while you’re there, and record your memories and expenses on the back to review when you return home! Printed front-and-back with fill-in-the-blank sections for itineraries, To-Do lists, notes, expenses, meals, photos taken, and cherished memories, PassPockets make organized travel a snap! One pocket is dedicated to travel plans, another pocket is for lodging, ten one-a-day pockets are dedicated to vacation fun, another pocket is for an extra day or a special event, and a final pocket saves special memories and creates a trip report. Although the PassPockets put PassPorter's® Walt Disney World® 2016 in a league by itself, the travel guide section easily stands on its own. The Disney-owned resort hotels get special attention, including detailed maps, color photos, and room layouts. "Visitors can spend more on lodging than they do at the theme parks," Jennifer notes,"so we dedicate at least four pages to every resort hotel owned and operated by Disney. You can change your mind about a ride, but your lodging decision sticks with you for your entire visit." The theme parks also get the full PassPorter treatment. Each of the four major parks -- Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom -- gets a detailed layout, complete with full-color fold-out maps and a concise description of every ride and attraction. Disney’s two water parks, the Downtown Disney dining and shopping complex, ESPN Wide World of Sports, the Disney Vacation Club and the Disney Cruise Line are covered, too. Meal times are fun times at Walt Disney World, and with over 300 dining options, the PassPorter team had its work cut out for them. Special worksheets, average meal costs for every restaurant, and other features help planners make the most of Disney's pay-one-price Disney Dining Plan. Every full-service restaurant on Disney property is rated and reviewed, as well as every counter-service eatery in the parks. "We give you a good taste of every restaurant and still keep it concise, which is important in a book people carry with them all day," says Dave, who loves to eat and cook. "We also give a complete rundown on Disney’s Character Meals, where Mickey, Peter Pan, or Pooh Bear pay a visit to every table. Believe me; grown-ups love this just as much as the kids!" The entire Marx family puts their mark on this guide. Eleven-year-old Alexander Marx and his 23-year-old sister Allison Cerel Marx have rated every attraction at every park, starting with their "A-OK!" ratings for younger kids and moving up, as they've grown, to ToddlerTips, KidTips, Tween Tips, and Teen Tips. These are accompanied by age-appropriateness ratings for park attractions from their parents, giving parents an extra heads up on what attractions are suited to their kids. Allison began sharing her kid’s perspective in PassPorter when she was seven, and Alexander started contributing nearly from conception, "visiting" often during Mom's pregnancy and rounding-out his parents understanding of travel with kids of all ages and stages. Every map, photo, chart, illustration, and worksheet is in full color on glossy stock, with additional use of color to highlight important points, such as items that are new or have changed at Walt Disney World since the publication of the previous edition. So when the magic of Walt Disney World beckons, pick up a copy of the award-winning PassPorter's® Walt Disney World® 2016 travel guide. Not only will you discover Walt Disney World through the eyes of four seasoned fans, but you’ll be more organized and better budgeted than you ever thought possible.

Wonderful Series but 2017 Edition Has Printing Flaws

I actually love the "Unofficial Guide" series but I just received my copy of the 2017 edition for WDW and noticed that the clip out Touring Plans at the back of the book are using last years maps with this year's touring plans. In other words, the numbers on the touring plans do not match the numbers on the maps. It may just be my copy or it might be a more serious problem with the proofs or the printers. If this gets fixed, I would give this 5+ stars. I only rated 2 stars to get attention. The "Unofficial Guide" series is not only well research but written with a refreshing candor and sense of humor that one wishes were in other guides. The centerpiece of the series devoted to theme parks is the Touring Plan, which prescribes the order of rides and attractions to visit in order to maximize your enjoyment of the park by minimizing waiting in lines. The authors also describe in great detail not just the rides, attractions, fright potential, and guest feedback... 2/5 Pen (Milwaukee) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Awesome book! Misprinted Copy was replaced!

UPDATE: My original review included information about major publishing errors (esp the maps) from the first printing (I ordered this book a few days before it mailed out for release). I emailed the publisher to let them know about the errors. They were already working on a corrected copy and I was able to send mine back and exchange it for the corrected copy. Below is my review minus the cons of the printing errors and with a new star rating to match my updated copy. I also highly recommend their website! It sends me email reminders when my planning deadlines come up and keeps track of my reservations. It's awesome! My husband and I used the 2007 edition of this book to plan our honeymoon and it was extremely helpful and a wonderful guidebook. We have been 3 times since then and are approaching our 10 year anniversary in 2017. Of course, we use these books every time. Our last trip was in 2013 and a lot has changed. The book does a great job of explaining the magicband... 5/5 JakeNLeelo - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A good Disney World guide, just expect a lot of info on Non-Disney things.

I love these guide books. However, in recent years I've noticed not a lot of new content on Walt Disney World itself and A TON of content on everything else in Orlando. Like pages and pages on non-Disney hotels, restaurants, etc. I understand that some people prefer to stay off Disney property but it's gotten to a point where a majority of the book feels like it's not even about Disney. They even have sections at the back of the book decided to Universal Orlando and Sea World!! Which both have their own Unofficial Guide!! Why are they included in here?! Disney isn't in the Universal Guide! Make another guide book for those people who prefer to stay and eat outside Disney World and focus more on reviewing and writing about Disney-related things. Disney Springs just had a HUGE expansion and it's barely talked about. Plus all of the restaurants and even some of the quick service dining could definitely be expanded on! There are so many great places to eat in Disney World and so hard to... 3/5 Ally - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great official Disney autograph book! But buy an oversized pen also!

5/5 Nick - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Walt Disney World Exclusive Official Autograph Book (Hardcover) A week before we were going to Disney World, I bought this for my Disney-obsessed girlfriend. She was thrilled. It's an official Disney book, with many blank pages ready to be signed by all of the characters at the parks! Yes, they do sell these at the actual parks but I would rather have peace of mine knowing that I was good to go before the plane even landed! One word of advice, I would look into buying an oversized pen (I believe they have a Disney brand one here on Amazon) because the characters plush hands are quite big, so it's hard for them to hold and write in these books with a normal sized pen. We brought one along and they all were able to sign the pages of this book perfectly! This would make a great keepsake to remember your trip by. Highly recommended! hands-down BEST book for Disney World planning!

I've been using this book and the accompanying website and app for years, and it is hands-down the best for preparing yourself for a Disney vacation. I'm a Disney parks pro and I still pick up the latest edition when I'm planning a big trip to see what they have to say on the latest developments. For the 2015 edition it was for the new fastpass+ system and the new Harry Potter Diagon Alley section in the Universal parks. Speaking of which, our week-long trip will cover both Universal Studios and Disney World and the Unofficial Guide has prepared us for both, although by far the bulk of the book is devoted to Disney, with smaller sections in the back covering Universal, Seaworld, and the water parks. The Unofficial Guide writers have a particular sense of humor, so make sure you read the introduction first--they care a lot about The World, but don't take it, or themselves, too seriously. This is not the "everybody happy all the time" Disney guide book like so many... 5/5 Sara Beth Wade (Chattanooga, TN USA) - See all my reviews, March 4, 2015

Almost indispensible for your trip to Disney/Orlando

I've been to Disney a few times, I purchased the 2014 version of this book also and while there is a lot of redundancy as many have pointed out, its to be expected. After all, Space Mountain today is the same as Space Mountain from 5 years ago so no reason to change a review. There are updates to the reading review ratings (small importance to me), the new restaurants/rides/etc (moderate importance) and the new fast pass system, which is the biggest change and probably the most important update that was made. If you have an older version of this book (ie under 3 years old), would I get it for those three things? Ehh, probably not. I think you could find the information for free online somewhere. If you don't, I'd highly recommend getting this book if its your first trip, someone in your group's first trip or haven't been in a while since A LOT has changed.Pros: - Great touring plans. Boy, Was This A Major Update!!

When Len Testa said that there were to be major updates in what many of us consider to be the best guide (official or unofficial), that turned out to be an understatement. I only listed the "new" parts to the 2014 edition, but there are many more updates to the other sections as well. Here are most of the new items: Coverage of Disney's new My Disney Experience website,* New strategies for "park-hopping" (visiting more than one park per day).* A new, detailed section on Disney's new RFID-enabled MagicBand wristbands* A new, detailed section on Fastpass* Our new list of the best Disney-specialist travel agents.* Complete rewrites of the reviews for Universal's Hard Rock Hotel, Portofino Bay and Royal Pacific hotels, plus a look at the Cabana Bay resort scheduled to open in 2014.* A review of the new Senses Spa at Disney's Grand Floridian resort. A Very Useful Book, Handy, and Lets Others Know You're Looking for Hidden Mickeys

Having this book made my twelve-year-old son's trip to Walt Disney World an over the top positive experience. Being a tweenage boy, he was concerned that Disney had a lot for girls and younger children. However, the Hidden Mickeys turned out to be something that was right up his alley, and this book proved to be a helpful resource to him in finding them. Before purchasing this book, we had simply considered getting a Hidden Mickey app. We figured that if we were already going to carry a device through the parks, adding an app wouldn't increase the bulk or the weight in our backpacks. (This was one of our concerns about purchasing a book.) We decided against an app, however, in large part due to the fact that our devices tend to be battery hogs; once a device goes down, an app would no longer be usable. So, we settled on a book. (It turns out that this book fit into our backpacks ok, and my son didn't much mind carrying it around the parks with him. 5/5 Shelly J (Herndon, VA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets (Paperback) This book has made my trip so interesting. My whole family usually loves big thrill rides but 2 of my kids needed a tamer schedule this visit. We spent a lot of time on the fun activities and searching for hidden Mickeys. The one on the wall in Boma gave us a run for our money - we actually had to Google an image for an extra clue! Next time we plan a trip I will invest in the ebook, too. This was a rainy visit and my book needed to stay in a ziploc a lot. I also kept my phone in a ziploc, but the touch screen works through the plastic so the ebook would have been much easier to use. Get in the Disney spirit!

4/5 Xbansheex83 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Walt Disney World Official Album (MP3 Music) My family loves Disney, so this album was something I had to have. It features several songs from many of the popular Disney World attractions. Personally, I think it has a few songs that I would consider filler material, and not really necessary, but that's not a huge deal. The majority of it is something I wanted to have, and it made sense to purchase the full album instead of individual songs. We like to go to Disney World every year or two, and have another trip coming up. This has been perfect to play for the kids to get them in the Disney mood. They love to sing with some of the songs, and talk about which rides they are from. We're having a lot of fun listening to this.
