About this book
The size and scope of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is enough to make the most seasoned traveler shiver. Disney has packed four major theme parks and 22 resort hotels into those fabled 47 Florida square miles. With all those choices, how can an everyday Mom and Pop hope to deliver a family vacation to remember? "Planning!" say Walt Disney World vacation veterans Jennifer and Dave Marx. "The vast Walt Disney World complex is not designed for procrastinators or last-minute travelers. Without a plan, a Disney vacation is nowhere near as much fun, and can quickly sink a family’s finances. A plan and a budget will keep your vacation happily afloat." The Marxes put their advice where it could help others with their award-winning travel guide, PassPorter's® Walt Disney World® 2016: The unique travel guide, planner, organizer, journal, and keepsake! The Marxes have been honing their advice, expanding their coverage, upgrading the book's features, and delighting readers in 18 editions published over the past 17 years. Not content to write "just" another guide, the authors continue where other guides leave off. In one neat, spiral-bound package they’ve combined a 362-page guide with 14 organizer "PassPockets," creating a proven planning system for the perfect vacation. What do you do with a PassPocket? Write your vacation itinerary on the front of each pocket before you go, store maps, brochures, passes, and receipts inside the pocket while you’re there, and record your memories and expenses on the back to review when you return home! Printed front-and-back with fill-in-the-blank sections for itineraries, To-Do lists, notes, expenses, meals, photos taken, and cherished memories, PassPockets make organized travel a snap! One pocket is dedicated to travel plans, another pocket is for lodging, ten one-a-day pockets are dedicated to vacation fun, another pocket is for an extra day or a special event, and a final pocket saves special memories and creates a trip report. Although the PassPockets put PassPorter's® Walt Disney World® 2016 in a league by itself, the travel guide section easily stands on its own. The Disney-owned resort hotels get special attention, including detailed maps, color photos, and room layouts. "Visitors can spend more on lodging than they do at the theme parks," Jennifer notes,"so we dedicate at least four pages to every resort hotel owned and operated by Disney. You can change your mind about a ride, but your lodging decision sticks with you for your entire visit." The theme parks also get the full PassPorter treatment. Each of the four major parks -- Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom -- gets a detailed layout, complete with full-color fold-out maps and a concise description of every ride and attraction. Disney’s two water parks, the Downtown Disney dining and shopping complex, ESPN Wide World of Sports, the Disney Vacation Club and the Disney Cruise Line are covered, too. Meal times are fun times at Walt Disney World, and with over 300 dining options, the PassPorter team had its work cut out for them. Special worksheets, average meal costs for every restaurant, and other features help planners make the most of Disney's pay-one-price Disney Dining Plan. Every full-service restaurant on Disney property is rated and reviewed, as well as every counter-service eatery in the parks. "We give you a good taste of every restaurant and still keep it concise, which is important in a book people carry with them all day," says Dave, who loves to eat and cook. "We also give a complete rundown on Disney’s Character Meals, where Mickey, Peter Pan, or Pooh Bear pay a visit to every table. Believe me; grown-ups love this just as much as the kids!" The entire Marx family puts their mark on this guide. Eleven-year-old Alexander Marx and his 23-year-old sister Allison Cerel Marx have rated every attraction at every park, starting with their "A-OK!" ratings for younger kids and moving up, as they've grown, to ToddlerTips, KidTips, Tween Tips, and Teen Tips. These are accompanied by age-appropriateness ratings for park attractions from their parents, giving parents an extra heads up on what attractions are suited to their kids. Allison began sharing her kid’s perspective in PassPorter when she was seven, and Alexander started contributing nearly from conception, "visiting" often during Mom's pregnancy and rounding-out his parents understanding of travel with kids of all ages and stages. Every map, photo, chart, illustration, and worksheet is in full color on glossy stock, with additional use of color to highlight important points, such as items that are new or have changed at Walt Disney World since the publication of the previous edition. So when the magic of Walt Disney World beckons, pick up a copy of the award-winning PassPorter's® Walt Disney World® 2016 travel guide. Not only will you discover Walt Disney World through the eyes of four seasoned fans, but you’ll be more organized and better budgeted than you ever thought possible.

Stories of What Could Have Been

5/5 Winter is Coming (Huntsville, AL United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: The Walt Disney World That Never Was: Stories Behind the Amazing Imagineering Dreams That Never Came True (Kindle Edition) For those of us who believe that Walt Disney World is the Happiest Place on Earth, it can be hard to imagine the Resort any other way than it is right now. But the fact is that many plans that Disney brass and Imagineers had for WDW never came to be. This book takes a deep dive into the history of the most interesting of these unfulfilled dreams. As thankful as we are for the WDW we have, it is exciting (and at times frustrating or disappointing) to learn what could have been. The stories are well-researched, well-told and, although at times brutally honest, they brim with warmth and reverence for all things Disney. Great Tips! A Must Purchase for your WDW Trip!

I am so very happy I purchased this book. We will be traveling to WDW in September 2016 and although I have been to Disney before, many, many things have changed so I needed something that would provided updated, clear information on FastPass+, Advanced Dining Reservations, Hotel Selection and general overall guidance regarding the Disney Parks. I saw this book in store before purchasing on Amazon and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. The colors inside of the book are great and I love that they have included pictures with many of their reviews. I also love the coupons that they included in the back of the book. They are going to be a great help when we are there. The tips and tricks that are included are awesome and I plan on using a lot of them when we travel to WDW. If you're taking a Disney Cruise, there is a small section in the back of the book for that as well. I'm not sure how good it is as I haven't looked at it, but just for an FYI. 5/5 JustMe - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Birnbaum's 2016 Walt Disney World: The Official Guide (Birnbaum Guides) (Paperback) If you are going to Disney World, get this book and read it. I did that the first time I went to Disney World (in 1993) and it was immensely helplful in navigating the parks effectively. Through the years I have purchased the current book periodically. This book is revised every year as Disney changes attractions and it is very helpful to have the current book when planning an upcoming trip. We just got annual passes for Disney World this year so I decided it was time to update. I'm glad we got the current book as a lot has changed in the last few years. Well worth the money.

5/5 Bonnie Williams - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Birnbaum's 2016 Walt Disney World: The Official Guide (Birnbaum Guides) (Paperback) We are Disney Vacation Club members, so visit nearly every year, at least once. This is always an annual staple for our family. It truly helped us keep up with what is new, and also set realistic expectations. Additionally, we learned some great tips about navigating the ever-growing WDW terrain. I love the book, with the color-coded organization, and the overall jam packed information about everything Disney. It is spot on. Thanks for another great edition Birmbaum's. Truly the best reference for a great vacation! Well worth the money--EVERY TIME!!! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 4, 2016

They work fine without the window

3/5 EEE_mom - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Disney Fastpass Magicband Coverbands Haunted Mansion, Small World, Tiki Room Was not the item pictured. I did see the windowless version on display at Pin Traders in downtown, but didn't see any for sale. My guess is that this was the first version and replaced by the window one. They work fine without the window. The only potential issue I can see is that if the magic band shifts on your wrist, you may have a difficult time matching up the Mickey heads to the scanners. That being said, the product itself was fine. It's made from a spandex/lycra type material which stretches well to fit the band. The sleeves are a bit long to accommodate the different sizes, so you'll probably need to scrunch them up a little in order to be able to close the band. This was particularly irritating for my 7 yr old who had adjusted the band to the smallest size and needed to scrunch up the oksleeve quite a bit.Price is okay. An Adult Guide To Disney

Being a lover of all things Disney and having been known to visit the dark side in the past, I saw this listed on Amazon and decided to treat myself and buy it.I was skeptical at first, after reading the cover that listed "scams" as part of the book but once I started getting to the actual tips and tricks, my fears were alleviated. I was afraid this book was going to be written by some jaded ex cast member or disgruntled visitor but to my delight I found that Leonard grew up here in Florida and loved Disney. So much so that he even worked in the parks for awhile. The book has A LOT of really good info, especially for people that think there is an easy or scamable way to get into the parks or buy tickets for 10.00 from a reseller. There are some other tips regarding best places to have sex or scam a free meal. There are ideas about how to enjoy the parks while high or tripping. Leonard says that he included these because as a teen and young... 4/5 Victoria Lytles (Tampa FL) - See all my reviews, January 21, 2014

5/5 C.A. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: The Dark Side of Disney (Paperback) I bought this book to help plan a long, but inexpensive vacation for my husband and I. We did not bring any children on our vacation. This book is exactly what it says it will be on the cover- it explains unauthorized tips, tricks and scams. The tips offer some really outside the box ways to save money and enjoy your WDW vacation. I've read most of the main guide books that are available right now, and the tips are always the same, like get a free dining plan, or drink ice water. This book is totally differnt. It gave us several techniques that helped us save a ton of money and have a more adult vacation. We'll be going on a second WDW vacation later this year. Leonard, if you're reading this, another WDW book with updated info would be awesome- or a Disney Land sequel! FINALLY!!! A BOOK ABOUT WALT DISNEY WORLD WITH TRUE FACTS, TOLD IN AN ENTERTAINING MANNER!!!

I continually check Amazon for any new book listing by Jim Korkis. I consider him the consumate professional DISNEY HISTORIAN. I know from reading his books over the years that his facts on all things Disney are REAL FACTS, not rumors and outright lies that are SWORN TO BE TRUE by other "so called" experts. I've been waiting several years for this Walt Disney World book, since there is SO MUCH misinformation out there on Walt Disney World. I especially welcome this book because I know very little about WDW, compared to Disneyland - since I'm a Disney fan who has lived on the West Coast most of my life. Although I've visited Disneyland numerous times, I've only been to WDW's Magic Kingdom and EPCOT once each - both on the July 4th weekend in 1988. I've read as many books as I could find on Walt Disney World over the years, but so many of the books seemed to be clones of each other - often repeating incorrect information that even I knew was not true.
