Not worth it, unless you already know it all.

First off, I'd like to mention that despite being called "Discovering The Magic Kingdom" this is not a book about the theme park of that name in Florida, but about Disneyland. This is an odd choice of title for a book about a specific park. All of the information provided is very dated. This book came out 6 years ago after all. The dated information wouldn't be a problem if it were a historical book, but this one places itself as a guide book, which makes a very large chunk of the book totally useless. In fact, the book even disagrees with itself more than once. An example, on one page it says that you can add parking to an annual pass for $79 but later on the same page it states the parking pass is a $59 value. This level of inattention to detail is disappointing. In addition, much of the information is simply wrong. "Facts" from the book prove to be mostly retellings of stories or things that were heard, but unfortunately Disneyland is... 2/5 Bryan Lyon (Rochester, Minnesota) - See all my reviews, November 7, 2016

What can I say? This is a must-have book!

There are so many elements to Discovering the Magic Kingdom: An Unofficial Disneyland Vacation Guide. First of all, it's just super interesting reading. I read it through twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times! So many fun things to learn about Disneyland all in one book. It's great that it's in paperback book form to easily carry in a backpack or stroller for reference throughout the park. And, while you're standing in lines waiting for rides, it's a great time to share the facts about that particular ride with all the other people around you. It helps make the time go faster for you and them. And, you get to meet lots of people and help make their day a little more fun. You'll find out how to get free coffee refills while in the park, how to make the trip more affordable, how to maneuver the park in one day (if needed), where to save money on food outside the park, where to stay, ghost stories, information that Cast Members have shared, and just so many fun facts about... 5/5 Sue Fujita (PITTSBURG, CA, US) - See all my reviews This review is from: Discovering The Magic Kingdom: An Unofficial Disneyland Vacation Guide (Paperback) There are so many elements to Discovering the Magic Kingdom: An Unofficial Disneyland Vacation Guide. • Tear-Free in Disneyland: A Parent's Guide to Less Stress & More Fun!

    eBooks

    Rating (31 reviews):

A few more things to add:

I loved this book. It was easy to read and gave alot of good hints. I bought another Disney book I didn't care for, that was the Unofficial guide to Disneyland. We just got back from Disneyland and I must say you can not see everything in one day. You need 2 days at each park to see most of it. Do take breaks it does make a difference. When you go if you want to get autographs from frozen head there first thing. The line is at the end of Main Street, you wait there till the park opens. We got to the park early and got up front to be let in. They only let a few in at a time before opening. Go through the castle gate and on the left just before the carrousel is where the line starts. We waited 1 1/2 hrs but it was worth it to see the girls eyes light up. We took pillow cases, small clip boards and fabric markers for the princess to sign so the girl's could sleep with the princess on their pillow. The Color of Wonder and Fantasmic are great to see, if you do take a nap or break and go... 5/5 Anita Hagerman - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 5/5 B & A Martin - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Tear-Free in Disneyland: A Parent's Guide To Less Stress and More Fun for the Whole Family (Paperback) We just back from THE BEST Disneyland vacation. My parents came with our family and our 4 year old did amazing. (We rented some scooters so he rode the whole time but I'm sure a stroller, which they recommend, would have had the same benefits) The book goes into great detail what rides are have the best enjoyability scores for children which is super helpful. It talks about where to take your kids to let loose. It gives great advice what expectations to have and tips on how to keep everyone in the best mood possible. I can't recommend this book enough. If you have small children and are planning a trip to Disneyland get this book., October 15, 2016

for parents of children 0-8 yrs.

4/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Tear-Free in Disneyland: A Parent's Guide to Less Stress & More Fun! (Kindle Edition) This book was a pretty easy read, very nicely organized and laid out. It had great sections for things I never would have thought to consider, such as, preparing my children, tear prevention plan, ride height guide & whether or not the rides are "scary" as rated by different age groups. I also got "The unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2013" which was helpful as well. While "Tear-Free" is fairly simple & geared mostly toward parents of young children (think 8 and under) "The Unofficial Guide..." seemed more thoroughly exhaustive & has useful tips & information, as well as ratings for all age groups, toddler through seniors.
