About this book
This updated edition of Birnbaum's Disneyland Resort, the most respected and well-known name in Disney guides, takes readers through Walt Disney's first theme park with ease and flair. Since our guide is the only guide that's official, this book includes the most accurate and current information on prices and attractions. This edition includes details on some big changes brewing at Disney's California Adventure (including an entire new "land" themed to the hit Disney.Pixar film Cars!), and we give readers the whole scoop. Other updates include an insider's look at the expansion of Disney's Grand Californian Resort and Spa, tips on how to catch the "Wildcat fever" at the peppy new show: "High School Musical 2-School's Out!", expanded coverage of the popular "Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island", and descriptions of all the latest happenings at Downtown Disney District Our guide is also the only one allowed to feature Disney characters. And Birnbaum's Disneyland Resort is the most comprehensive guidebook, offering complete information on the Magic Kingdom, Disney's California Adventure, and Downtown Disney, as well as details about Anaheim area attractions, things to do in Los Angeles, and special driving routes around Southern California. This is the only guide to Disneyland that readers need, entirely updated every year.

0 4/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Tear-Free in Disneyland (Kindle Edition) This book was a pretty easy read, very nicely organized and laid out. It had great sections for things I never would have thought to consider, such as, preparing my children, tear prevention plan, ride height guide & whether or not the rides are "scary" as rated by different age groups. I also got "The unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2013" which was helpful as well. While "Tear-Free" is fairly simple & geared mostly toward parents of young children (think 8 and under) "The Unofficial Guide..." seemed more thoroughly exhaustive & has useful tips & information, as well as ratings for all age groups, toddler through seniors. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 24, 2013

A few more things to add:

I loved this book. It was easy to read and gave alot of good hints. I bought another Disney book I didn't care for, that was the Unofficial guide to Disneyland. We just got back from Disneyland and I must say you can not see everything in one day. You need 2 days at each park to see most of it. Do take breaks it does make a difference. When you go if you want to get autographs from frozen head there first thing. The line is at the end of Main Street, you wait there till the park opens. We got to the park early and got up front to be let in. They only let a few in at a time before opening. Go through the castle gate and on the left just before the carrousel is where the line starts. We waited 1 1/2 hrs but it was worth it to see the girls eyes light up. We took pillow cases, small clip boards and fabric markers for the princess to sign so the girl's could sleep with the princess on their pillow. The Color of Wonder and Fantasmic are great to see, if you do take a nap or break and go... 5/5 Anita Hagerman - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Excellent Summer Read!

0 5/5 Caroline Casias - See all my reviews This review is from: My Affair with Mickey (Paperback) I love reading this book for many reasons:-reading it is like walking through Disneyland, for the low price of $10! As an annual pass-holder for years, I find the descriptions in the book to be both accurate and immersive.-as an advocate against Domestic Violence, I appreciate the way the book presents an emotionally abusive marriage and the long term affects it can have on a person. The story is hopeful, but also honest about the difficulties in overcoming years of being undermined and belittled.-it is a sweet story, making it a perfect read for the summer: the book begs to be read by the pool, at the beach, or, hell, at Disneyland! If you enjoy Disneyland and hopeful romances, you will LOVE this book! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 3, 2014

It takes you on a dream adventure through Disneyland that one can only dream of!!!!If you are not a Disneyland buff, you should be. Seriously, it is amazing!!! You will still fall in love with this book though, I dare you not to!The main character is relatable and real, she is passionate and strong even if she doesn't know it at first. This book is not all rainbows and unicorns, it touches on a very real subject of verbal abuse and male dominance in a broken marriage.I cannot recommend this book enough! I absolutely loved it and can't wait to read it again!!! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 2, 2014

    Fun, Hopeful Read

0 5/5 UBizz "UR" - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: My Affair with Mickey (Kindle Edition) I got this book for free after seeing it on one of my free book lists. I did not know the author and thought it might interest me. The book met my expectations in that it was a quick fun read that ultimately provided me with more than a few laughs. Margaret "Mini" Gunderson is a native CA resident and has had a love affair with the Magic Kingdom (which is 5 miles away from her home) since she was a child. She visits the park just before her 30th birthday with her husband (Michael) of 9 years and during that visit a lot of things are revealed to Mini and she learns a lot about herself. Mini is kind of pathetic, but ultimately understandably so, so it's great to see her evolve during this visit to Disney World in a way that will forever change her life. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 24, 2014

What can I say? This is a must-have book!

There are so many elements to Discovering the Magic Kingdom: An Unofficial Disneyland Vacation Guide. First of all, it's just super interesting reading. I read it through twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times! So many fun things to learn about Disneyland all in one book. It's great that it's in paperback book form to easily carry in a backpack or stroller for reference throughout the park. And, while you're standing in lines waiting for rides, it's a great time to share the facts about that particular ride with all the other people around you. It helps make the time go faster for you and them. And, you get to meet lots of people and help make their day a little more fun. You'll find out how to get free coffee refills while in the park, how to make the trip more affordable, how to maneuver the park in one day (if needed), where to save money on food outside the park, where to stay, ghost stories, information that Cast Members have shared, and just so many fun facts about... 5/5 Sue Fujita (PITTSBURG, CA, US) - See all my reviews This review is from: Discovering The Magic Kingdom: An Unofficial Disneyland Vacation Guide (Paperback) There are so many elements to Discovering the Magic Kingdom: An Unofficial Disneyland Vacation Guide. This book has so much information about the park, rides and movies. I brought my family with me and we would go through the book and mark pages for different areas of the park we really wanted to see. The author has really taken time to explain in ends and outs of Disney. With so much information its a great book to keep out on the coffee table. Good for hotels, but almost no help with fast food

We went to Disneyland Paris the last week of June, and I bought this book to help plan our trip. We visit WDW yearly, and I still refer to a slightly older copy of the Unofficial Guide to WDW to help plan our trips. (I also borrow the latest from the library to see if there are any big changes.)The Paris version of the guidebook was very useful in selecting a hotel, but it was lacking some basic information. For example,1) Fast food restaurants -- After the hotel, this is the most important information for me. The full service restaurants are listed and reviewed, but the fast food restaurants are hardly mentioned. The book does include a list of five fast food restaurants that are overlooked by the crowds and serve decent food, but little else. The books about the US parks list all the fast food restaurants, describe what they serve, and give a quality and value rating for each. Also, we expected that the fast food restaurants wouldn't open before 11... 3/5 a mom from Greater Boston - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) excellent, much-needed resource

Up until this point, any Disney parks fan considering a trip to Disneyland Paris has had precious little available in terms of reliable resources to turn to. That's all changed now with the publication of this very comprehensive, all-around excellent book.If you are familiar with other Unofficial Guides, such as the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, you'll similarly appreciate this one and its honest assessments of park rides, restaurants, hotels, etc. In addition, there is a great deal of helpful logistical information re. the resort, its proximity to Paris itself, trains, and so on. If you have a question or concern regarding Disneyland Paris (how to get there, when to go, where to stay, what to expect, etc.), it's almost certainly answered in this book. All in all, the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland Paris is terrific and makes the idea of a trip to Disneyland Paris far less intimidating, particularly for those traveling from a considerable distance... 5/5 C. If only Passporter would come out with a Parisian version

There really isn't much out there but this book like the WDW version gave me LESS than my internet slog of the forums and blogs where the posters generously provided photos - I get that the Unofficial writers claim that photos would make the guides too large but this Paris version is a very slim volume.I feel like I had no idea about Serris and the Val d'Europe area. It's not enough to offer a handful of local restaurants to EXPLORE the nearby towns. PLUS the hotel reviews are once again crappy. I know many people swear by the Unofficial guides to Disney parks but I am really not one of them. The text on the cheap paper is always hard to read and with this thinner Paris version, they are begging for competition. Also, I feel that they are cheating when a huge hunk of the book is about how smart they are in deciding which rides to go on first which is pulled directly from the other Unofficial WDW guide.
