Great informational book on Marco - from the very beginning when it started as a vision.

This book is great. It takes you thru the whole process of the development of Marco Island. It was recommended by a realtor when we were on the island. It's full of pictures, although black and white, they are great. The pictures show the entire development and how it all progressed. If you're a fan of Marco Island, this is a must have.I purchased the book used and it was in wonderful condition - just like new. Delivery was very quick also. I was very pleased with the seller and would buy from them again. 5/5 Dawn Murray - See all my reviews This review is from: The Last Paradise - The Building of Marco Island (Paperback) This book is great. Great read, I laughed out loud

Rarely does one find a book so useful and yet so entertaining as Reach your Perfect Beach. I am a long-time kayaker (a veteran of the Wilderness Waterway) and Naples resident. This book not only led me to beach access points unfamiliar to me, it provided many amusing bits of Naples history in an engaging and wry style. 5/5 Arthur G. Get ready for work

These night stands are awesome and great quality, but be sure to put lots of time aside for install. I bought two and both had pilot holes missing in areas, so I had to do a little extra work and measure out and drill my own holes. Even with the extra work I would still recommend them because they look great and are sturdy. 4/5 Dan mandriota - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) BEAUTIFUL!

Easy to follow instructions, packaged with great care; Every piece was wrapped in plastic foam paper. It is a little shorter than I thought it would be, but still works nicely as a night stand. 5/5 Vicci Haskins - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Simply Stunning!

My husband and I were surprised to discover a smaller than anticipated delivery box; however, once opened we discovered the best packaging ever! He watched T.V. as he leisurely put this night stand together, in about an hour or more. It is gorgeous! I may need to purchase shorter lamps, or try the wall lamps for reading instead of the tall lamps that we have, for a change. This nightstand is hand made, of WOOD, mahogany and REAL wicker! We are most pleased! We are still painting in the bedroom, so the additional night stand and matching headboard, separately purchased but together, are not completely assembled yet, so I can't comment on how everything looks together; however, should I have any issues, I will be sure to write again, but I don't anticipate any. 5/5 Comfort&style (Mesa,AZ) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I could not buy a Naples, FL, map locally. So, I called on Amazon and you came through.I took the map to Naples last week and used it to get around the area. Tragically underrated

I can't stress enough how important it is for anyone considering seeing this movie to ignore the heaps of negative reviews here. Most justify their opinions by calling this film strange, grotesque, or both. Both are fitting, but there's alot more to this film than that, and those two things in themselves are not necessarily reason to dislike a film. Quite the contrary, when Hollywood is so overrun with unchallenging, unoriginal fodder. I could praise the movie on any number of levels. Every actor here carries his or her eccentric role with a perfectly tasteful care not to go over the top or become too cartoonish. The dialogue is free of fluff and carries quite an element of eloquence, which is fitting when considering the overall dramatic intent. On a more basic level, the creature effects used on the half human, half animal hybrid creations inhabiting Moreau's Island are handled by none other than Stan Winston and done very well, and the soundtrack is appropriately eerie,... 5/5 Wuchak (Eastern USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: The Island of Dr. Moreau (Unrated Director's Cut) (DVD) Ever wonder where Col. Kurtz would've ended up if he had survived the end of "Apocalypse Now"? And I can see WHY some people don't like it, the main portion of the flick is really INSANE. However, if you're a sucker for lost-on-an-island type yarns and appreciate the heavy mood & insanity of "Apocalypse Now," you'll probably like it. I'm not saying it's anywhere near as great as "Apocalypse Now" but Marlon Brando and the jungle insanity make the comparison inevitable.WHAT WORKS: The title sequence is great, perhaps one of the best in all of cinema (another Amazon reviewer noted this, so I'm not alone); the soundtrack is phenomenal ('nuff said); the plot is intriguing; the humanimal make-up is fine ('Hyena' looks especially horrific); the film possesses an undeniable creative pizzazz... Breen (Gardner, MA USA) - See all my reviews, June 2, 2005

The line between animal and man has been evolutionized.

An ocean plane wrecked diplomat (David Thewlis) is rescued and brought to an island inhabited by a Nobel winning now reclusive scientist (Marlon Brando) and his children; the animals he has been genetically manipulating with human DNA in an attempt to create his vision of a pure species. When this film opened it was panned by the critics. I was never sure why. It opens strong, both visually and musically. The locale is beautifully claustrophobic, appropriate for a secluded tropical island. Stan Winston's creature make up is excellent. The body language of the "humanimals" is very interesting. The underlying commentaries on the savagery of society and the morality of biological scientific experimentation are intact. Performances are excellent (Brando makes a daring, and critics said poor, choice in his interpretation of Moreau in that he plays him like an effete, physically feeble, unbelievably polite British University English Professor, more eccentrically insane instead of... 4/5 0, January 7, 2005

I don't want to be harsh, but, while mildly interesting, this book is really only the text version of a "my vacation" slideshow.Only 60% of its short length is the main text, with the rest rounded out by an appendix of notes.Worth getting if you want to know what a trip there would be like (down to the content of each meal), but only on sale. 2/5 B. I agree with the prior reviewer, but I'd give it 2.5 stars. Have to stick with 2 stars since that's not possible. Where are the mysteries?

I read this book as a free read. However, as the author wrote about his vacation, not the mysteries of Easter Island, I was a bit disappointed.I was hoping to read more of the history of the land and the people. It was interesting, as a vacation record. But it wasn't what I was hoping for: a historical book about the mysteries of Easter Island. 2/5 Mousinator "~Mousinator~" (none) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
