wrong words and missing words prevent you from getting into a good reading "groove"

0 3/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: HOW NAGS HEAD LOST ITS APOSTROPHE (Highly Unlikely Stories of North Carolina's Outer Banks Book 2) (Kindle Edition) Interesting stories but hard to read. Misspellings, wrong words and missing words prevent you from getting into a good reading "groove". Having to stop and figure what word belongs at this particular point just pulls you away from the story. There are so many of these you are constantly on the look out for them. I liked the stories themselves so continued through the book. Teaching Marine Life? This series is for you!

0 5/5 Bindiboo - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Happy Hermit Crab, A Tale of Shell Seekers (Paperback) I have been a fan of Suzanne Tate books for years. Usually I stay away from cartoon like books, but even as a big proponent of nonfiction, these books are highly effective when used with young children studying "life under the sea." The blend of facts and whimsy is very appealing to them! I teach an interdisciplinary marine life program to 1st and 2nd graders. These books are just right! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 14, 2012

    So Disappointed :(

I have hermit crabs, so I thought this would be a great book to read to the grandbabies to help them learn about these amazing little creatures. Sadly, I was so disappointed!! The inaccuracies are so blatant that the book is useless.Hermit crabs do not leave their shells to dig down to molt. They will dry out and die without them. That is called being naked, and they will die unless they return to a shell promptly. Healthy crabs never discard their shell until they have checked out an appropriately sized (and shape) shell. The switch is completed in seconds! Most times, they will keep a leg on their old shell to make sure that they are comfortable in the new one before moving on. When molting, they dig down, shell and all. They push their old exoskeleton out of their shell. Once they have hardened up enough to be able to move, they eat their discarded exoskeleton. They stay underground until they have completely hardened and regained their strength. This can take as little as 2... 1/5 Leah R (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
