As the old saying goes…race, creed, color, national origin, or sexual preference.

Publisher: Author House

About this book
As the old saying goes…race, creed, color, national origin, or sexual preference. No one ever thinks about religion, until one goes to a religious service. Religion is what holds people together, when everything else fails.  Two Marines re-ignite their love.  They are from two different religious backgrounds.  One comes from a long line of military patriotism, while the other comes from a family of secrets.  What they do have in common is that they are both Marines and will uphold the law to the best of their ability.

Good little book with lots of information about Nags Head ...

4/5 anonymous - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: OLD NAG'S HEAD (Paperback) Good little book with lots of information about Nags Head from about 1880 until well into the 1920s, and some before and after that. Fills a definite void in Outer Banks history. Decently written, as well, with Outlaw's personal story intertwined with local history. However -- and it's a BIG however -- this is by far the worst organized book I've ever read and I've read many local history books. Simply chaotic. With a good editor, or even with text moved around, this would have been a 5-star. Wonderful read for a day at the beach or an afternoon at home

5/5 Michael - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hitting the Send Button (Kindle Edition) Set in a small coastal city, the author skillfully intertwines plots and subplots based on the main character's love life, her sister’s digital indiscretions, and her father’s health. Email and text messages provide an underpinning to the stories, which deal with relationships and family ties. Even as the main character deals with near-romances, her professional life blossoms and she comes to terms with decisions she has made about her life. Her own decisions are set against a backdrop of decisions made by her family, friends, and acquaintances. Medical issues and river/ocean water provide settings that help her deal with conflicting emotions. I very much enjoyed this wonderful read. I enjoyed the story

5/5 Kathy in NC - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hitting the Send Button (Kindle Edition) I enjoyed the story, which addresses some culturally current issues. The author definitely left room for a sequel. She used beautiful, descriptive language so the reader was able to imagine themselves in the scene. A tense read

I started Altered Beginnings on Saturday morning, and finished it Sunday night. I was caught up in the story from the prologue, and didn't want to put it down.I'm not a great book reviewer, tending to lean towards "I loved it" or "I was bored". And in the interest of full disclosure, I will state that I follow author Destiny Booze on Twitter, and she gifted me with a copy of this book.So I'm very happy to honestly say I did love it.Leigh Lawson was raised in an orphanage for the first few years of her life, then placed with a foster family. We first meet Leigh in the orphanage, then we fast forward to her as a college graduate who has received a graduation party invitation from her best friend in the small town she grew up in. We learn that Leigh left town right after high school graduation, and that the whole town hated her, and apparently still do. We don't know all the circumstances yet of her leaving, and those unfold over the course of the... 5/5 octoberwoman - See all my reviews This review is from: Altered Beginnings (Paperback) I started Altered Beginnings on Saturday morning, and finished it Sunday night. IF IT DOESN'T BREAK YOU..IT CAN ONLY MAKE YOU STRONGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4/5 jazzylady007 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Altered Beginnings (Paperback) I read this book about 2 months ago and I truly enjoyed it. I only rated it 4 stars becaused the beginning was about her childhood in the orphanage and how she was molested and then it jumped right into her returning years later after her high school graduation which left you wondering what happened in between that time. Well maybe that's what the author wanted you to do is draw your own conclusion about her childhood. Then the story was rolling from her return to the end. Leigh was a trooper throughtout the whole book. Overall the book was good. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 14, 2011
