About this book
A native of the Northwest, Douglas Lorain spends more than 150 days each year hiking Oregon's trails. The author of several outdoor guidebooks to the region, Lorain's scenic photographs have been published in numerous magazines, calendars, and books. Not one to be deterred from the great outdoors, in his lifetime Lorain has hiked more than 32,000 miles, and has been charged by a grizzly bear, bitten by a rattlesnake, and shot at by a hunter while on the trail. He lives in Portland, OR. What makes a trail a classic hike? Outstanding scenery, says Doug Lorain, especially good views. Add in mountain lakes and waterfalls. Sprinkle with wildflowers, old-growth forests, wildlife sightings, and interesting geologic features. All of the hikes Lorain has selected boast at least two of these attributes, and often more. These are simply the best hikes the state of Oregon has to offer. Lorain should know; he's logged more than 16,000 Oregon hiking miles in his boots. In the 2nd edition of 100 Classic Hikes: Oregon Lorain presents a mix of the most popular trails and lesser-known gems throughout the entire state, including 9 brand new hikes. Trailheads are easily accessible; trails are well established. They range from short, easy strolls suitable for children and grandparents to longer backpacking trips for experienced hikers.

    Returned. Too Small

I liked nothing about this bag. It was extremely uncomfortable as a female. the straps don't have padding all the way down, and are thinner than expected. The bag really is as small as it looks. It might be okay for a carry on, that only has your laptop, charger, and magazines but not much else. the laptop part doesn't zip and unfold as easily, pretty, or flawlessly as the picture, or reviews say. If you unzip it with the laptop inside the laptop almost falls away from the rest of the bag. Not good. Also, the laptop sleeve is the zipper part that is on your back. I don't know about other people but that is hard feeling against my back. It WAS NOT worth the $140. I think that price is strictly for the guard protection, but the pocket is so tiny, and in such a bad spot, I know I wouldn't even use it. I was very excited about the straps that go across the waist and chest. As a female who is 5'7 it did not hit in the right places, at all. The hip does not adjust up or down like the chest... 1/5 Kelly - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 4/5 Bright Star "Bright Star" (USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Bug Mini Backpack RFID (Sports) Before making this purchase you must be fully aware that this is a really small backpack, and the straps are not padded. If you try to fit in an iPad like others did, you will find this backpack becomes increasingly uncomfortable. I use this with other crossbody bag interchangeably when traveling. I don't want to carry a lot (or force myself to stop carrying all the junk with me) so this fits the bill. I like the safety features, but cannot figure out why EG decided to keep the loop hole on the side when there's really no need for it like in the previous versions. Overall this bag is good for carrying a could of small items and not for holding a lot.Although happy with my purchase, I took one star off for the price. At $70 it is certainly over priced. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 25, 2014

    Poorly Designed

I purchased this small backpack to carry an iPad Air, an iPhone and other small items but the bag is not very suitable for the task. I knew that it was small but I did not expect it to be so poorly designed. Eagle Creek makes very good products (I own many of them) but this is not one of them.First, the top part of the bag - the upper lip/cover portion - tapers down pretty fast and it also narrows quite a bit. This makes it difficult to slide the iPad into the rear slot with the pack upright. To do it with some ease I had to lay the pack flat on its back and hold the lip back but in that position the other contents would slide out. Secondly, the front pocket has an L shaped opening/zipper which does not open sufficiently to get items into the RFID slot or the right side of the compartment. While I could get my wallet there with some effort, removing it at a store for a purchase would be a hassle. The straps are also very flimsy, and while probably strong enough, the weight... 2/5 CM (Houston) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) For a light traveller this bag is a must.

0 5/5 richard stringer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Gear 2-In-1 Backpack Duffel (Sports) Wonderful product. Exactly what I was looking for. I am reluctant to check any luggage while on a flight and this, even when packed to the brim, comes in under most airlines carry on limits. Packed a week and a glad worth of clothes (rolled up) into this baby and still had enough room for sandals, a tablet, and external batter packs. My trip to tokyo was a success and I look forward to my trip to Italy in a couple months. Obviously this bag will be in tow. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 2, 2014

0 5/5 Jessica Showalter - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Eagle Creek Travel Gear 2-In-1 Backpack Duffel (Sports) This is a really nice bag. I am going to use it on a trip to Italy. It folds up in to itself rather nicely and doesn't take up a lot of space. It is also lightweight. It holds quite a bit when packed full. It is very convenient to take empty and bring back full! The materials all seem very durable. I will update this review if I have any future problems with the bag or it's durability. But so far, it's been good! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 16, 2014

    Great Backpack

0 4/5 CMT - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Outlander Big Packable Handy Lightweight Travel Backpack Daypack This backpack was awesome on our trip to Europe. Survived cold and heat...rain and sun. The only reason it gets a 4 vs. A 5 is the zippers kept getting caught in the cloth covering them which was very annoying. If the backpack was made of a more sturdy material I don't think this would of happened...but then it would be heavier and you probably couldn't fold it. So it gets a solid 4 stars. Oh yeah if you are wondering about size...it held my IPad in bulky otterbox case, camera with medium lens, two water bottles, medium umbrella, all my folders with travel info and a number of small item like chap stick, mole skin, hair brush, passport ect. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 13, 2013

0 4/5 J Anthony "tinglassman" (San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Outlander Big Packable Handy Lightweight Travel Backpack Daypack Overall, I love this pack. If you're questioning to get the smaller one or this one, keep in mind your own size (as a human). I'm 5'8", about 180 lbs, and have big shoulders. This was a good fit for me. This pack is great in what I've been able to stuff into it. Take it with you on a trip, and when you need more space for a day of shopping on your vacation, just open it up and use.The only issue I've had is the protective lip fabric on the main compartment. It covers your zipper when you close it. The lip can get int he way of the zipper and thus you get a jam. My trick is to fold the lip back completely before zipping up. Other than that, no complaints.I recommend this pack. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 18, 2014

The construction is better. The bag stripes have more reinforcement.*Brand: I can not find a company website for outlander. Awkward design for backpack straps

0 4/5 Charlotte - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Eagle Creek Luggage Flip Switch Wheeled Backpack 22 (Sports) We have the Switchback 22 model already. Love it. This one surprised. The backpack straps are in the front, zippered in an area where you normally would have an outside pocket. So the handle is on the back, the straps in the front. I can probably live with it. Remove the straps if not needed for more room. Awkward. It loses a star for this design. Everything else seems to be Eagle Creek quality - wheels, telescoping handle, fabric, etc...Update: after using in Europe, the size allowed it to fit on every airplane we used. Even though the Switchback 22 model complies with major airline dimensions, this one just ended up fitting better in the overhead bins. It was also rugged and easy to roll. We removed the straps for additional room. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 11, 2013

0 4/5 Miette (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Eagle Creek Luggage Flip Switch Wheeled Backpack 22 (Sports) I like the concept but if you use the straps as a backpack, it limits the space you have externally. The size is a great carry on size though as it will fit in the overhead compartments of most planes wheels in and on others horizontally. I used the eBags packing cubes and found they fit perfectly inside. The small fits perfectly in the bottom (with the bag on the wheels) while the large and medium would need to be layed down. The narrow ones also fit perfectly between the bars inside. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 24, 2014
