MAP
The map will be prepared in OCAD and will be based on an available topographic data base augmented by on-site fieldwork. Map scale will be either 1:40,000 or 1:50,000. The size of the map will be notified later but is likely to be about A2. Contour interval will be 20 meters.

The mapping style to expect for PSRNQ is illustrated by this section of the map (500KB GIF) used for the PSRNQ, although the PSRNQ terrain is more gentle. Checkpoint locations will be pre-marked on the map as will out-of-bound areas. There will be a number of water stations throughout the course. The map will be oriented to magnetic north and will have magnetic north lines overprinted.

It is unlikely that the map will be printed on waterproof paper so appropriate map protection will be necessary. Further information on this will be notified a month or two before the event.

The total number of checkpoints and the maximum points that can be scored will be announced in the final event information. The value of each checkpoint will be the ‘ten’

Sunshine can be very hot, hats and sunscreen must be carried.
